I can remember the first time I mentioned the idea of Wreckro to my business partner Matt many years ago. It was on Irish Day in Hoboken, New Jersey. The conversation smelled like Guinness and the concept felt like a pipedream, far from ever being accomplished. We both knew though, after roughing out a few of the general ideas, that we were on to something.
Wreckro is an idea born of a simple fundamental of life and business in general. An idea that drives our economy and our world. Competition. Whether it's sports, business, or a game of Risk, competition is in our DNA.
Take, for example, two stores that sell the same thing opening up right next to each other. What happens? Prices go down in both. People start looking for other qualities and attributes that make one store more likely to grab their business than the other. The stores start doing things above and beyond simply lowering prices to compete. They rely on things that can't be bought, like service, honesty, and integrity. In the end, competition builds better businesses, better product, and a more diverse economy.
This is the key to Wreckro. The business of repairing, upgrading, and selling anything that moves no longer lives in a compartmentalized world. Here at Wreckro, the consumer puts the ball in the vendor's court. And the vendor actively engages potential business they would have never been aware of otherwise.
